Kiln Fired

The 'KILN FIRED' collection is a series of artworks that blends influences from nature, wood, as seen in the 'SUMI BLACK' collection, with inspiration drawn from beautiful ceramics, embracing the aesthetic of wabi-sabi. Ceramics, being greatly influenced by nature and traditions like tea ceremonies and wabi-sabi, shares many parallels with my goal of Wabi Sabism Art (Painting). In the 'KILN FIRED' collection, my aim is to abstractly express the objective art of ceramics onto canvas, capturing the essence of natural beauty and cultural influences.

Tranquility Teapot

Tranquility Teapot series drew inspiration from a Shigaraki-yaki pot I discovered in Ginza,Tokyo showcasing an indescribably gentle and sweet palette. In the realm of ceramics, allowing the glaze to flow naturally under the influence of gravity, with the outcome only revealed after firing, adds a unique beauty. In this piece, I aim to capture the beauty of glaze naturally dripping, revealing underlying layers and creating a composition where colours blend organically, expressing the wabi-sabi aesthetic - an art form that embraces the beauty of simplicity and imperfection.
