Inspired by a Shigaraki-yaki pot I discovered in Ginza, Tokyo, this work explores the gentle, earthy palette of traditional ceramics. Natural glaze flows and firing unpredictability in pottery guided my process, inspiring an abstract interpretation on canvas.

Soft gradients of beige, bark brown, and muted gray echo aged stone and weathered clay, while textured layers create an organic “lava effect.” After extensive research and experimentation, I developed a unique technique to recreate this molten, ceramic-like surface without clay—capturing the spirit of wabi-sabi and the quiet elegance of imperfection.
